All my life I’ve loved country music, it is in my heart, my soul and is a part of who I am.  I grew up on a family farm in southern Mn, at the age of four I had a banjo in my hand.  Someone always had the radio on listening to all types of music, however, I found myself drawn to country music. There was just something about it that made me smile.

“At the age of four I had a banjo in my hand.”

Years later in life I had guitar in my hand and start learning how to play.

I had many siblings and most played an instrument, I guess that started the process of encouraging me to play, along with Mom and Dad taking me to a couple of lessons. Over the years I have continued to learned on my own and developed an ear for music and sound. I play all by ear, I listen then just start playing.

In the beginning I started learning from books my brothers had and then started learning how to play Folsom prism blues which is still my all time favorite. I grew up listening to older country music, Cash, Waylon, Willie, Meryl, Jones, Buck, Hank Sr/Jr, Chet, Reed and many many more.

The lyrics were really life experiences and the voices where very distinct.  I would find my self trying to sound like all of them as I want to be each one.

Years past and I learned more and more each year. Loving the different decades of music and style of each artist.  I know God had a bigger plan for me and to play music and entertain others to bring happiness and joy to their life, just as it has brought me when I play.
